Stephane Sednaoui is a French director and photographer. He first started as a photographer and videographer taking pictures of big names such as Courtney Love and Madonna. He then became a photographer for Italian Vogue in 1986.

 

This is his Instagram page. The series of images that can be seen was a project he did when on holiday, there wasn’t much description on the images but I believe the whole point of the project was to document his holiday and anything he found interesting. I didn’t really find the project that interesting because I didn’t really understand it however the point might have been that you have to interpret them as you will.

 

This is a screenshot from the video he directed for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The whole video was in this monochrome colour and the composition was very central in most of the shots with the band members either very close to the camera or stood at a distance but still central like in the shot above.

 

This is an album cover for Icelandic singer Bjork. It was taken by Stephane and is quite different compared to his other work I’ve looked at. This image is very bright and colourful which was probably done to reflect the atmosphere of the music and the singer. Once again he has made her stand in the centre of the image wearing bright white clothes so that she stands out over the rest of the colourful background.
